Christmas market in mitwitz: no “plastic christmas”
“Unne weihnachtsmarkt is a dream”, claudia schwammlein, who is in charge of the event at mitwitz town hall, is sure. She is already in the middle of preparations for the upcoming christmas market. On saturday, 30. November, and on sunday, 1. December, the mitwitz water castle with its marchen park will be transformed into a pre-christmas experience place. “We will illuminate the castle, park and pond, and atmospheric light shows will create a magical and unforgettable atmosphere” she promises.
120 stands and ten pavilions are planned and claudia schwammlein already gives a direction: “we attach great importance to handicraft and sustainability”.” so it should not be a “plastic christmas” the market is to score for it with heart blood and atmosphere. You could buy then for example handmade paper, christmas floristry, sandblasted glass or star dream lamps.
The culinary flussig tour ranges from warm plum wine, lumumba, punch, heiber caipirinha, glogg and pharisaer to apple punch. A solid base should provide galettes, raclette, sausages, baked mushrooms, langos, crepes and calamari. Burnt almonds, among other things, provide the right scent.
Guests are welcome to visit the "old riding hall" again this year and the "historic stables. Atmospherically decorated stands should also provide romance here. Exhibitors are looking forward to spoil the visitors with punch, gluhwein, heiber chocolate and products from the region. However, the merchants have already issued a warning to the visitors: the stall operators are no longer allowed to hand out plastic bags at the market. Those who liked are welcome to bring their own transport packaging.
So if you want to look over the shoulder of a wood turner at work or watch how christmas baubles are labeled, mitwitz is the place to be. A comprehensive program around the market should make the everyday stress forget and do something good for the soul. In the park and in the weiben hall singers and musicians will entertain the visitors, there will be an ecumenical service in the castle chapel and a puppet theater of "D’papplstock" there will also be a unicef raffle. For those who want, thanks to the montessori school, they can make themselves comfortable by the fire, warm themselves in a yurt and bake stick bread. Children were also allowed to color candles. The market will be crowned again this year by the visit of santa claus.
The tourist association mitwitz offers guided tours of the castle on saturday, 30. November, at 5, 17.30 and 18 o’clock and on sunday at 13, 16.30 and 17 o’clock. Meeting point for this is in the courtyard.
Parking is available on coburger strabe (exit from mitwitz in the direction of sonnefeld), on breitensee, in schlossallee, in burgstaller weg and on ehretswiese (exit from mitwitz in the direction of worlsdorf). The parking spaces are signposted. In addition, on sunday, 1. December, the parking lot in the industrial area "am riegel" will be used.
